Now taking applications for the 2027 PDXWNBR Planning Committee!
The ride is organized entirely by hard-working, dedicated volunteers, and led by a Planning Committee. Two roles will change holders every year: Committee Steward and Ride Leader. This is to help ensure PDXWNBR stays flexible, open to new ideas, and gives a variety of community members a chance to take leadership roles.
The first full 2027 Planning Committee meeting will be held the first week in December, and then starting in January the group will meet twice a month, with one being in-person (within the boundaries of Portland city limits) and one being virtual. Exact dates and times will be decided later by vote.
The application deadline is end-of-day Friday, October 16, 2026. If you are selected for this year’s Planning Committee, you will be called and/or emailed by mid-November.

List of roles and job descriptions
*Admin: Liaison to Umbrella (our fiscal sponsor), applies for permits, manages finances, and is the main contact for city partners (City of Portland/Portland Police/PBOT).
*Artist Search Lead: Reviews and updates the Art Submission Guidelines and timeline, and posts initial search announcements on social media.
*Committee Steward: Creates agendas, runs meetings, takes notes, and organizes location/login info for meetings. Delegates tasks as necessary.
Fundraising: Recruits partnerships, donors, and sponsors.
Marketing and Outreach: Promotes the ride, connects with communities, organizations, and individuals.
Media: Press and interview contact, manages social media, and assists in creation of digital media.
Merch: Assists with design, creation, and management of physical inventory. Takes the lead on the artist search.
Onsite Coordination: Plans and coordinates day-of onsite logistics at the start and end points.
Route: Reviews the proposed route, monitors road conditions, and stays up-to-date on relevant events in the community.
Safety: Creates/updates the emergency preparedness plan, monitors ride from start to finish, and manages the medics, bike mechanics, and Ride Shepherds.
Social Responsibility: Ensures a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible place of belonging.
Treasury: Reviews purchase orders, researches products, and tracks expenses.
Volunteer Coordinator: Manages volunteer duties, including recruiting and training corkers (traffic control).
*These 2027 roles have already been filled from 2026’s Planning Committee.
Requirements to volunteer:
- Age 18+.
- Sign a waiver.
- Some roles require attendance of one virtual meeting ahead of the ride.
- If your role is for the day of the ride, you will need to download the app Zello for communication purposes.
