Shift is a volunteer organization of bike funnists who help facilitate events around Portland such as Move by Bike, inclusive group rides, and Pedalpalooza–the biggest event of which is the World Naked Bike Ride. Organizing the naked ride takes hundreds of volunteer hours and costs a fair amount–there aren’t any free, safe locations where thousands of naked people can gather. Because we’re legit, we need permits from various city departments, security and bathroom facilities, and a way to deal with 10,000 peoples’ worth of trash after the event. Therefore, each event requires thousands of dollars.
So we turn to you, the riders. Can you help Shift fund the rental of a gathering location, and all the associated costs of the pre-party? Even one dollar helps! All donations to the World Naked Bike Ride are processed by our 501(c)(3) partner Umbrella and are thus tax deductible. If you would like a tax receipt sent to you, or if you donate more than $25 and include your address with your PayPal donation, we will send you a tax receipt.
