REQUEST FOR ARTIST PROPOSALS
Project Intent
For two decades, thousands of people have gathered and ridden bare through Portland to protest oil dependency, demand safer streets for cyclists, and celebrate the power and freedom of the human body. This year, we’re looking for an artist who can capture the spirit of “Unity in Nudity.”
Project Scope
- Creation of the official 11×17 ride poster.
- Informational sheets.
- Doodles, animation, and visuals for our website and social media.
Practical Qualifications
- Proficient with preparing print-ready art.
- Ability to create web and print ads.
- Open to constructive criticism.
- A commitment to the World Naked Bike Ride’s cause.
Budget
This is a paid opportunity.
Selection Process
Artists will be chosen by a committee of the PDX World Naked Bike Ride leadership team.
Application Guidelines
Applicants must submit the following to pdxwnbr@gmail.com by May 31st at 11:59pm:
- Three examples of artwork related to this project (doodles, visual ideas, crude sketches — quick concepts are perfect!). No AI-generated content accepted.
- A few written thoughts about your ideas for the project.
- Tell us about yourself:
– Your history and plans for participation in PDXWNBR.
– What’s your relationship like with Portland and biking?
– How do you use art to express yourself?
– What are some of your favorite things?
THIS IS NOT A POSTER CONTEST. Do not create a PDX World Naked Bike Ride poster design for us at this time; that will be the job of the selected artist who will chosen based on the materials submitted.
Timeline
May 31 at 11:59pm – Deadline for proposals.
April 2 – Artist name publicly announced.
May 1 – First draft of the poster and additional designs (web images, graphics, etc.) due. The leadership team will review and may ask for revisions.
June 1 – Final drafts of the poster and all art due.
PDX World Naked Bike Ride
